REVIEW: THE SANTA CLAUSE 3
11/18/07
The third installment of the
successful franchise “The Santa Clause”, don’t jingle as
well as it's predecessors. Proving once again how hard it is
to keep a movie franchise rolling. Even though the “The
Santa Clause 3: The Escape of Santa” got a nice chuck of
last years worldwide box office of about 110 millions
dollars. It was a big disappointment for the Disney studios
comparing it to previous installments of the franchise which
managed to make 189 million dollars for the original film “The
Santa Clause“ and 172 million dollars for the sequel “The
Santa Clause 2”.
In this sequel we see the appearance of Jack Froze (Martin
Short) as he plans to be the main character for Christmas
by taking the North Pole under his control. The idea on
paper looks like a promise for a fun adventure, however this
idea was not well exploited to its full potential by the
screenplay writers, making the story weak and at times
dragging the film a lot. Maybe that was why the cast looked
out of place and lost. Even Tim Allen who has shined in the
previous films was not at his best in this sequel.
The DVD contains the 2 versions

5.1 Surround Sound. Bonus features are below average in this
