The Runaways DVD and Blu-ray Release Date

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announced the release of THE RUNAWAYS on DVD and Blu-ray July 20, 2010. The Biography/Drama was directed by Floria Sigismondi, starring Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning and Michael Shannon.

The film follows two friends, Joan Jett (KRISTEN STEWART) and Cherie Currie (DAKOTA FANNING), as they rise from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. They fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley (MICHAEL SHANNON), who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself and so do its two leads: Joan is the band’s pure rock’ n’ roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten.

WOMEN IN TROUBLE

From acclaimed writer-director Sebastian Gutierrez comes an outrageous, genre-bending, multi-layered comedy about one day in the lives of ten seemingly disparate women – including a porn star, a flight attendant, a psychiatrist, a masseuse, a bartender and a pair of call girls — all with one thing in common: trouble. Carla Gugino (”Sin City”) stars as Elektra Luxx, a world-famous porn star whose future is thrown for a loop with the news that she’s pregnant and Adrianne Palicki (”Friday Night Lights”) is Holly Rocket, a not-too-bright adult industry newcomer with an inconvenient aversion to girl-girl action. Their paths intersect with, among others, a hilariously suave British Rock Star (Josh Brolin), a bright neurotic with a dark past (Connie Britton, “Friday Night Lights”) and a call girl with a tricky client (Emmanuelle Chriqui, “Entourage”).

    THE HURT LOCKER

In the summer of 2004, Sergeant J.T. Sanborn (Anthony Mackie) and Specialist Owen Eldridge (Brian Geraghty) of Bravo Company are at the volatile center of the war, part of a small counterforce specifically trained to handle the homemade bombs, or Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), that account for more than half of American hostile deaths and have killed thousands of Iraqis. A high-pressure, high-stakes assignment, the job leaves no room for mistakes, as they learn when they lose their team leader on a mission.
When Staff Sergeant William James (Jeremy Renner) takes over the team, Sanborn and Eldridge are shocked by what seems like his reckless disregard for military protocol and basic safety measures. And yet, in the fog of war, appearances are never reliable for long. Is James really a swaggering cowboy who lives for peak experiences and the moments when the margin of error is zero or is he a consummate professional who has honed his esoteric craft to high-wire precision? As the fiery chaos of Baghdad swirls around them, the men struggle to understand and contain their new leader long enough for them to make it home. They have only 38 days left in their tour of Iraq, but with each new mission comes another deadly encounter, and as James blurs the line between bravery and bravado, it seems only a matter of time before disaster will strike.

    Princess DVD Review

    Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Princesses movies are always so charming, classy, romantic, and magical. Well at least that is what Disney and many animators from the east and the west have portrayed so far. With the upcoming movie Princess and the Frog and The diamond Re mastered once again released of Disney ‘s all time classic “Snow white and the Seven Dwarfs” I was feeling in a princes sly mood to see another magic tale. As I took a look to my new DVDs I could not help to notice Morgent Haler’s animated movie: Princess. Just by looking at the title I could not help to think that this was going to be another predictable “fairy- happy ending tale,” type of movie. READ FULL REVIEW
