Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Multi-Million Dollar Marketing Campaign In Full Swing for The Amazing Spider-Man’s Fourth Quarter Release

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) is weaving an intricate, nationwide web of awareness with its multi-million dollar marketing campaign aimed at snaring fans of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ahead of the November 9th release of the film on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack and DVD with UltraViolet™. Three high-profile national brands –Skippy® Peanut Butter, Carl’s Jr.®/Hardee’s®, and “Wheel of Fortune” – are partnering with SPHE to support the home entertainment release of the film, with more than 2.75 billion anticipated TV, digital and out-of-home impressions. SPHE is also collaborating with worldwide family destination Universal Orlando® Resort and sister company Sony Electronics on a sweepstakes offer hosted by Yahoo!

SPHE is teaming up with promotional partners, Skippy® Peanut Butter, Carl’s Jr.®/Hardee’s®, and “Wheel of Fortune,” on a variety of marketing initiatives, including:

• Skippy® Peanut Butter: Offering instant $4 savings coupon offer on The Amazing Spider-Man Blu-ray™/DVD Combo Pack when consumers purchase specially marked packages of Skippy® Natural Peanut Butter Spread. The campaign will be supported by a national, free-standing insert with full circulation and online advertisements, plus 2 million jars of peanut butter labeled with The Amazing Spider-Man at more than 25,000 participating retail locations.

• Carl’s Jr. ®/Hardee’s®: Offering The Amazing Spider-Man themed collector’s cups for purchase at about 2,900 U.S. locations through the holidays (or while supplies last). They also gave out almost 350,000 Halloween “Trick Or Treat” vinyl bags with The Amazing Spider-man depicted on one side and The Lizard on the other.

• Wheel of Fortune: Reaching 11 million nightly viewers, “Wheel of Fortune” is featuring contestant prizing promoted nationally in-show via a Spider-Man-branded wedge on the iconic Wheel, a clip from the film, and The Amazing Spider-Man boxes. Contestant prizing includes a Sony Electronics package comprised of a Sony 55” Internet TV, Sony Full HD Handycam Camcorder, Sony 3D Blu-ray Home

Theater System, and The Amazing Spider-Man Blu-ray Combo Pack. Simultaneously, an in-show and social media campaign kicked off featuring the “#AmazingSpiderMan Trick or Tweetstakes” giveaway.
Fans were encouraged to watch during Halloween Week (Oct. 29 through Nov. 2), look for a partially solved puzzle featured on screen during the contestant interviews, and then solve the puzzle and “tweet-to-win” Sony products, as well as The Amazing Spider-Man Blu-ray™ Combo Packs.

The grand prize winner of the sweepstakes offer will receive a four-day/three-night trip for four (including airfare) to Universal Orlando® Resort, where they can experience one of the world’s most popular theme park experiences, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. The grand prize package also includes admission to both Universal Orlando theme parks, Wet ‘n Wild Orlando® water park, accommodations at the exciting Hard Rock Hotel®, and tickets to see Blue Man Group. One first place winner will receive a Sony Electronics package that includes a Sony BDP-S790 Blu-ray™ Player, a Sony 46” HX750 Internet TV, and a Sony HT-CT260 Sound Bar.
