Well this is exactly what happened to a young man in the film Brideshead Revisited. This drama takes the viewer to a journey through one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and the decadent world of British aristocracy. While it explores social issues like economic class, religious controversies, sexual taboos, and forbidden love. It is a captivating and suspenseful story with one of the most beautiful backgrounds.

Charles Ryder (Mathew Goode) is the privileged young man who visits Brideshead and is seduced by the world of the aristocrats. His character develops from being a curious college young man to becoming a world famous painter. It is this twist in his character what highlights this actor’s performance potential. While the mood is serious and mostly dark at Brideshead the presence of Hayley Atwell as Ms. Marchmain intensifies the mystic dynamics of the Marchmain family. Her performance is one of the best in this film full of powerful surprises.

Only a the opulent, classic and mysterious Brideshead does this story finds its perfect match. Warning! this movie needs to be watched with an open mind and a sensitive heart. No boos allowed.
