The Dark Knight sets its first record

The Dark Knight made $66 milllion on Friday managing to break the single day record held by another comic book hero Spider-Man 2. Spider-Man 2 held the record at $60 million.

The Dark Knight has been out for less than 24 hours, but it has already managed to break a record. The movie grossed $18.5 million from midnight screening beating the record of $16.9 million held by Star Wars: Episode III. Early reports are estimating that the movie might make an earth shattering $50 million just on Friday alone.

Here are the top five weekend box-office record holders:
1 Spider-Man 3 $151 million
2 Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest $135 million
3 Shrek the Third $121 million
4 Spider-Man $114 million
5 Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End $114 million

So now that most showings are sold out, how much are you willing to pay to see The Dark Knight. Well here is one guy who’s willing to pay $150. Fans Pays $150 for “Dark Knight”

    I consider myself a Batman fan, but I’m not willing to pay $150 for a ticket. I waited a year. I can wait two weeks more.

    I don’t know. I’m dying to see it and all the showings I went to yesterday were sold-out. I’m getting pretty desperate and willing to pay a little bit more just to get my hands on a ticket.

    of course it broke the record, movie tickets are more expensive now. that does not mean the movie was better.
